Twelve years in the making and born from the longest running comic book convention in Iowa, the new Midwest Comicon has stepped out of the science lab and has taken its first steps towards something far greater. It will stretch out beyond state borders to welcome all who want to be a part.
This convention is for a community of comic book fans, artists, creators, families and so much more! It is filled with tons of talented writers, creators & illustrators, fun & entertainment, vendors galore, very special guests as well as characters and costumes. One of our goals is to encourage the next generation to enjoy comics, reading & writing, creating and thinking outside the box!
At the heart of everything the MC does is a goal to have a family friendly convention at an affordable price. Most conventions throughout the U.S. include a stronger "ADULT" theme. From guests to cosplay attendees, many families are concerned about exposing their children to things they should not be seeing or hearing. Our plan is to eliminate those concerns because we want parents to feel more comfortable about bringing their kids to be a part of such a great event. We want husbands to feel comfortable about bringing their wives and we want wives to feel more comfortable about being here with their husbands.
The single most important element of the MC is our desire to give back. For example, each year a special child will be sponsored and a portion of the convention proceeds will go directly to the selected family. They can use our gift to help pay hospital bills, grocery bills, utility bills or anything else that will help them get out from under their financial burdens. So outside of attending one of the greatest comic book conventions around, our guests can know they played an important role in helping someone in a time of need.
In addition, you can also know you are supporting local business, artists and talent from all over the Midwest. The Midwest Comicon is a local convention and the proceeds will stay local and help our community grow.
Ladies and gentlemen; kids of all ages, we encourage you to join us for what we hope to be one of the most remembered annual conventions around!
